Personal brand shoot in Bath, UK with art dealer Annalise May of Wallflower Art Gallery.

In the “Self Made Spotlight” today is Annalise May.

Annalise is an art dealer based in Bath, UK. Through her business Wallflower Art Gallery, she sells affordable, unique, original oil paintings to customers all around the world. The paintings are a mixture of vintage, antique and contemporary art and you can buy them directly via her Instagram account or from her Etsy store

Annalise has recently gone full-time with her business so she wanted to update her brand images to get a professional, fun, classy, and approachable feel. A few weeks ago I visited Annalise in Bath and we shot at her lovely home. There were so many great rooms and areas to choose from, which you might recognise from her other Instagram account @annalise.at.number.9 I’m not going to lie, I got quite excited by the number of choices and definitely went over our time schedule!

At the time of our shoot Annalise was 19 weeks pregnant but she wanted to have a few images that would still be useable after her baby is born, so we got a bit creative with ways to cover her baby bump. Of course we took a few images to celebrate the little one too!

Annalise also has 2 lovely cats Poppy and Evie, who both managed to steal the show a few times and get in some of the shots!

During our shoot I really enjoyed talking to Annalise about the good and bad parts of instagram and life as a small business owner. This is one of my many favourite things about working with fellow small business owners, because we can relate to each other and offer each other advice.

Since our shoot, Annalise has been using her new images on both of her instagram accounts.

“I love my images & can’t wait to share more!”

When I asked Annalise if she felt her new images have impacted her business at all over the last month, she said

“Yes, they are such a great way to confidently share the face behind the business with customers and followers. The personal connection is really important to help build trust in an online business.”

She added

“You’ll see there are lots of complementary comments on the pics I’ve shared - Too many to share!”

I also asked Annalise if she had any advice for someone who’s considering having a brand photoshoot, and she said

“Book it! Plan it! Enjoy it :) it can seem daunting but it really isn’t and you’ll probably enjoy it much more than you think! It is important to prepare for it as the time goes so quickly so you’ll be glad you did. Think about how to keep the pictures really relevant to your business and have fun with it.”

Recently, Annalise hosted an interiors networking event to bring together the interiors community in Bath and surrounding areas! She said it was a great opportunity to showcase her business alongside two other local small interior businesses (@houseofbrunswick and @decorbuddi_bath_jackie) and meet up with lots of lovely Instagram accounts. She says the next step for her business is putting plans in place to keep it running while she takes some time off for maternity leave in the spring, which is very exciting!
