Why you & your photographer should get to know each other ahead of your personal brand shoot.

This week, many business owners will be celebrating “Get to know your customers day”. But as a personal brand photographer, I personally make it a priority all year long to get to know each-and-every-one of my clients ahead of their photoshoot. So, in light of “Get to know your customers day”, I thought I’d talk a bit about why it’s so essential that you and your photographer get to know each other in order to create a successful personal brand shoot.

Why should you get to know your personal brand photographer ahead of your shoot?

Getting to know each other ahead of the shoot helps to create a better working relationship between you and your photographer. You’ll feel more comfortable asking questions and discussing the vision for the shoot in detail, allowing you to get a better sense of the photographer’s style and approach. You’ll also have a better idea of what to expect on shoot day and how to prepare.

On top of this, getting to know your photographer will also help you feel much more relaxed when you're in front of the camera because they won't be a stranger. When you feel comfortable during your photoshoot you’re much more likely to show off your true personality and let your unique brand identity shine through in the photos. Which is key to attracting your ideal audience!

Why does your personal brand photographer need to get to know you ahead of your shoot?

Getting to know each other before your personal brand shoot will help make sure that shoot day runs smoothly and it will ensure that everyone is on the same page about the vision for the shoot.

Your personal brand photographer needs to take the time to really understand your business and what you need your brand images to communicate. This includes things like your services or products, your target audience, your brand message, your personality, and what’s unique about you. When your photographer knows you and your business well, they will be much more able to create stunning images that accurately represent your brand and will actually be useful to your business.

When your brand photographer gets to know you they can also work out if they need to adjust the way they shoot at all, to make you feel more comfortable and bring the best out of you for your images.

How I’ll ensure we get to know each other ahead of your personal brand shoot.

As your personal brand photographer, I’ll offer you a Complimentary Consultation before booking a shoot with me. This is so that we can talk and get to know one another a little better. It's also the ideal time for you to ask any questions you might have before making your investment.

With my larger photo packages, you’ll also have a Creative Call with me on Zoom so that we can thoroughly plan for your shoot. On the day of the shoot, you'll feel as though you're with a friend because we'll have gone over all the little details, talked about what will work best for you, and gotten to know one another even better. My larger brand photography packages also include a Collaborative Pinterest Board, where we can share inspiration and ideas for things like settings, outfits, poses, and props. This way, we can make sure that we are truly on the same page in terms of how you want your brand images to look.

All of my brand photoshoot packages also include a Brand Questionnaire that enables me to learn more about you and your business. It also helps you define what you want and need from your images. You’ll also receive a Photoshoot Preparation Guide with loads of tips to help you get ready for your personal brand shoot!

And on top of that, I’ll also spend time emailing you throughout the process of working together, so I’m with you every step of the way!

So, when it comes to creating a successful personal brand shoot, getting to know your photographer and helping them get to know you before the day of the shoot is essential. It will make for a better working relationship, you’ll both know what to expect from each other, you’ll share a creative vision for the shoot, and you’re much more likely to feel relaxed in front of the camera. Most importantly though, you can ensure your brand’s message is communicated clearly and effectively in your new brand images and you’ll end up with photographs that you just can’t wait to share with your audience!
