Why EVERYONE needs a photo of themselves on their business cards.

I finally got around to printing some new business cards recently. When I designed them, I always knew there would be a photograph on them - because I'm a photographer and it's a way to show off my work.

But there's a reason why everyone needs their photograph on their business cards, and today, I’m going to tell you why...

By having a photo of yourself on your business card it helps people remember who gave them the card. I can't tell you how many times I've been to a networking event and collected a handful of business cards, only to look at them later and struggle to remember who gave me which card.

When there's a photo of the person on the card it instantly helps you remember who gave it to you. But more than that, it helps you remember the conversations you had and the in-person connection that you made with that person.

Your business card is no longer just a piece of paper with some information on it, but it's a real person you met and someone you might want to stay connected to!

Now, if you don't meet the person who ends up with your business card, your photo can still help you out. The recipient of your business card may not have met you, but your photograph will certainly help them see past the piece of paper with info about a faceless entity, to a real person behind a business. And that real person looks friendly, professional, and perhaps someone they could work with, buy from, or hire.

Top Tip.

Now here’s my top tip! Use the same portrait on your business card as the one you set for your profile pic across all your social platforms. As soon as someone looks you up they will instantly know that you're the same person whose business card it is and that they're in the right place. Consistency also helps with brand recognition and makes you much more memorable!
