How to showcase yourself as a professional in your field.

Today I wanted to talk about why it’s so important to invest in professional portraits for your business. These days most people have got a pretty decent camera phone so it can be really tempting to use your own photos for your business. But the thing is, if you want to be seen as a professional at what you do, then you need to start by showcasing yourself professionally.

And snazzy camera phone or not, it’s professional images taken by a professional brand photographer that will help you do that, & let me tell you why…

Whatever business you have, you’re most likely in a competitive industry. Your dream customers are going to come across many of your competitors so you need a way to stand out and grab their attention. Hello, eye-catching photos!

So, let’s imagine your dream customer is presented with two similar businesses, one business uses a phone selfie for their profile photo and the other has a stunning professional brand portrait. You can bet their first thought is going to be “Well I’m not going to work with the person that uses crappy phone photos, because they obviously aren’t a very professional business”. So give yourself a head start, and don’t be that business.

You could be great at what you do and I have no doubt that you are, but if you don’t get the chance to show your ideal audience, it’s going to be really hard to make any money and build a successful business. So, that’s what professional brand photos do. They help you grab your target audience's attention, so you can have the chance to show them how amazing you really are and what you can do for them!

Now this is why you want to work with a professional personal brand photographer. Professional photographers know how to show you off as your best self, how to pose you, what colours make your eyes pop and how to make your face really stand out. And personal brand photography is about much more than just your face. It’s all about showcasing what is unique about you, including your personality and your specific offerings, so that your ideal customers can begin to connect with you. So don’t skimp by taking a selfie or getting a friend to do it. Even if you’ve got a great camera, you need a professional photographer who really knows what they’re doing because they can help showcase you and your business in a way that could really help your business grow.

So if you want to show your audience that you are a professional - stop using unprofessional photos to “promote” your business!

Stop using phone photos and selfies. Don’t use holiday photos. And no, that photo of you at your friend's wedding is a no no too (even though your hair looked amazing that day!)

If the photo is dark or grainy, nope. If there are other people in the shot not relevant to your business, nope. If you aren’t portraying your professional self, then definitely nope. And that one photo you actually like yourself in from 10 years ago is waaaayy to old!

If you want to be seen as a professional, then it’s time to showcase yourself professionally.

Professional brand portraits help you appear in a professional light, which will result in your customers taking you more seriously. You’ll create a good first impression and present yourself as a professional in your field. When you have beautiful, professional images, you’re much more likely to stand out and grab people's attention, encouraging them to engage with your business.

So, if you want your audience to see that you are a professional, it might be time to invest in some professional personal brand images for your business.
